Support Campbell and Indy: Fight for Safety and Justice
Donation protected
I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and an urgent plea for help. My children, Campbell and Indy, are in a precarious situation that requires immediate legal intervention to ensure their safety and well-being.
Currently, I have temporary sole custody of my children through an ex parte order. This came about due to a series of deeply concerning incidents involving their father, which have been thoroughly documented since April of this year. The most recent and alarming event involved a targeted attack on Indy, who is transgender, in which he slammed the child against the wall before throwing them on the bed and covering their mouth while they screamed and cried out for their mother. When Indy came home to tell me this, I knew I couldn’t send them back to their dad.
The danger to my children if they return to their father's care is real and immediate:
- Their father has exhibited transphobic behavior, posing a significant threat to Indy's mental and physical health.
- There's documented evidence of psychological maltreatment, which falls under New Hampshire's definition of abuse (N.H. Rev. Stat. § 169-C:3).
- Despite the evidence, including the father's own admission of a physical altercation in court, the DCYF investigation was concluded as "Unfounded," leaving my children vulnerable.
- The father is now seeking full medical decision-making power, which could be used to interfere with Indy's gender-affirming care.
To protect Campbell and Indy, I need to take several legal actions:
- File a Petition to Modify the Parenting Order
- Request the appointment of a Guardian ad Litem (GAL)
- Prepare for multiple hearings, including a review hearing and a contempt hearing
- Gather and present extensive evidence, including subpoenaing various individuals and organizations
While I've applied to the Modest Means program for legal assistance, the process is challenging and the need is urgent. The legal fees for these proceedings are substantial, and I'm turning to you for help.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will go directly towards:
- Legal representation fees: $5000
- Court filing costs: $1000
- GAL appointment fees: $2000
- Costs associated with gathering and presenting evidence: $1000
Your support means more than just money. It shows Campbell and Indy that they are valued and worth fighting for. It stands against discrimination and for the right of all children to be themselves.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your compassion and support, whether through a donation or simply sharing our journey, mean the world to us and give us hope for a brighter future.
With gratitude and hope,
