Aloha friends, family, and community,

My name is Kawailani Crespo, I was once an angel at camp agape, and nearly 14 years later I work here as a mentor and core leader. My goal is to help facilitate the financial recovery of all that was lost after the most recent Kona Low floods.

With heavy hearts, we are reaching out during one of the most difficult seasons our ministry has ever faced.

The recent Kona Low floods caused devastating damage to our church and to Camp Agape Hawai‘i, a program that has served as a lifeline for children of incarcerated parents for nearly 20 years. In a matter of hours, floodwaters destroyed critical supplies, equipment, and resources we rely on to serve over 200 youth each year.

The total loss exceeds $150,000.

While we are incredibly grateful to have insurance, it covers less than 10% of the damages—only about $11,000. The reality is that the majority of what was lost must now be replaced through faith, community, and generosity.

Why This Matters

For two decades, Camp Agape Hawai‘i has been a place of healing, mentorship, and hope for children navigating the trauma of having an incarcerated parent. These are children who are statistically at high risk of following the same path—but through this program, lives are being transformed.

This August marks our 20th Anniversary Camp—a milestone we have prayed, planned, and prepared for. But today, that celebration is at risk.

What We Lost

The floodwaters did not just damage property—they wiped out the very tools we use to serve:

Our Reality

We operate with no paid staff on our church side and small portion of part time staff on Camp side, little overhead, and are sustained almost entirely through donations and volunteers. Even our mentors and volunteers pay their own mission fees so that every dollar raised can go directly to the children we serve. All of the overage and excess is paid fully by the church.

Despite this devastating loss, we are committed to moving forward.

Because the children are still coming.


Because their stories still matter.


Because hope cannot be canceled.
