We are the Calexit Initiative a movement fighting for California’s independence and self-governance. Founded by Marcus Ruiz Evans our mission is to give Californians the power to control their own future, free from federal dysfunction.
Where We Are Now
✅ Refiled with the California Secretary of State: We’ve officially restarted the petition process, stronger than before. This was a critical step forward. In past campaigns, technical and timing issues slowed progress, but this time is different. We have formally refiled with the Secretary of State, which means the Calexit initiative will be officially active again in the eyes of the state. This action resets the clock and allows us to begin collecting the 550,000 valid signatures required to qualify for the ballot.
Why is this so important? Because now, every signature we collect moves us closer to a historic moment—placing California’s independence directly in the hands of voters. This filing also ensures legal recognition, opens the door for official state oversight of the petition drive, and gives us a structured timeline to work within.
Unlike previous efforts, we are approaching this process with stronger organization, a larger volunteer base, and momentum that cannot be ignored. By refiling, we’ve proven our commitment and set the stage for Californians to finally have their say.
