Join Us in Building Hope: The Fuller Center Madagascar Housing Project
Help Us Make a Difference
Greetings, compassionate souls!
I’m embarking on a journey of compassion and solidarity to Madagascar, a land of unparalleled beauty and enduring challenges. Through The Fuller Center, I will be volunteering my time and skills to build houses in one of the poorest areas of Madagascar during the month of July. I believe in the power of community and the transformational impact of lending a helping hand; to build homes for those who need it most and to sow seeds of hope in the hearts of the less fortunate.
Madagascar, an island nation brimming with natural wonders, is also home to many families who struggle daily with inadequate shelter. Poverty and hardship often cast a shadow over their lives, but together, we can illuminate their path with hope and possibility.
The Fuller Center is really just people helping other people -- it's a non-profit grassroots network of organizations that offers people a hand-up, not a hand-out. We do it together with families and the local community, not for them.
Why Madagascar?
Madagascar's rich biodiversity and vibrant culture captivate the world, but behind its scenic landscapes lies a stark reality for many. Thousands of families face housing insecurity, living in makeshift shelters that offer little protection from the elements. By focusing our efforts here, we aim to address this pressing need and uplift communities in a tangible, sustainable way.
How You Can Help
My goal is to raise enough money to cover my trip fees and expenses, which covers my travel expenses to Madagascar as well as on-the-ground expenses and funds toward purchasing the materials and creating local jobs.
Everything above my goal will go to help my build partner, Derek Petersen, with his expenses on this same trip. If we both raise enough to cover our expenses, anything remaining will go to The Fuller Center as an additional donation.
The initial $1850 will go directly to The Fuller Center to reserve my spot in this trip. It will be used to purchase building materials on-site to build the home(s) and to pay local workers.
The remaining $2316 will cover my travel expenses to and from Madagascar. This amount (and the total goal amount) has been edited from the original amount of $2950 (and total goal of $4800) as we have bought our tickets and locked in our pricing for the trip!
I will be staying in Madagascar and/or other African regions after our work is done for a few days. Any travel and lodging expenses outside of my work with The Fuller Center and the airfare to and from Madagascar will ONLY be paid out of my own pocket.
