Hello! My name is James Moetzinger. I am a Boy Scout from Troop 2033 located in Nanuet, NY, and I am working on my Eagle Scout project to benefit the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill. The project focuses on improving the lighting at a flagpole on the convent grounds, which holds significant meaning, especially with the recently restored Korean War Memorial beneath the American flag.
What I’m Raising Funds For:
Currently, there is no proper lighting on the flag, and previous attempts to install lights didn’t work well. To solve this, I am planning to install a new solar-powered lighting system. This system will include a control box, solar panel, and battery-powered lights that will ensure the flag is properly illuminated at night, in accordance with the tradition of honoring the American flag.
My project involves several steps, including digging trenches to run underground wiring, building protective concrete boxes for the lights, and installing the necessary components. The lights will be mounted at an appropriate height to prevent damage, and the system will include a photovoltaic sensor to automatically control the lights. The box that houses the controller and battery will be custom-built with weatherproof materials to ensure it lasts for years.
I am raising funds to cover the costs of materials like the solar panel, battery, lights, wiring, concrete, and other supplies necessary to complete this project. Your support will help make this project a reality and ensure that the flag is properly illuminated for years to come, making it easier for the sisters to honor the flag without needing to lower it each night and honoring the American flag.
Please consider donating; any amount will be greatly appreciated. Spreading the link to this GoFundMe will also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
