My name is Donna Paulson, and was asked by Bruce's neighbors to organize this fundraiser on behalf of Bruce Allen.
Bruce (85) is a retired veteran living in a small one hundred-year-old home in Langley.
Unfortunately, his 50+ year old septic system has failed, and he urgently needs to connect his home to the city sewer system. The expected cost is approximately $45,000.
Bruce does not have the resources to do this alone and is facing an emergency as his septic system overflows regularly. Several neighbors are rallying to help, and we would appreciate any contribution you are able to make.
Bruce’s life is one of service and giving. He served his country in the U.S. Army and retired as a Command Sergeant Major after 30 years of service. In retirement, he served on the Langley City Council, the Island Transit Board, and worked with The Hub helping children with meals and after-school homework, providing a safe place to hang out with friends. Bruce also volunteers at the Ryther Child Center of Seattle, working at their thrift store and on the Island County Chapter of Ryther (Mardi Unit).
Bruce is a member of the Langley Methodist Church where he has volunteered countless hours.
Bruce has given a tremendous amount to the community in Langley. It would help him greatly if his friends, neighbors, and the community could give him some help back.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings Bruce one step closer to a secure and healthy home. If you’re unable to give, simply sharing this fundraiser will help.
Thank you for taking the time to read Bruce’s story and for supporting him during this important project.
