Support Brooklyn's Journey to Deaf Community

Hello,
We are the Norman family from Salinas Ca. We are relocating to Rochester NY this June to give our daughter Brooklyn a chance to live life in a thriving deaf and hard of hearing community. We have learned so much these past 2 years of her schooling. And although we are thankful for everyone's attempt to make her feel welcomed and their attempt to help her, we need to get her somewhere with professionals and people who understand living life as a deaf person. Brooklyn is sweet, bright and energetic but has been dealing with severe frustration, lack of communication and community. She feels out of place as 1 of 2 kids at school with hearing aids. Everything we've learned about the absence of hearing mentally, has been on our own. So we are relocating our family to Rochester NY so that we can enroll her in the Rochester School for the Deaf. We will all learn ASL, get counseling and embrace the huge deaf and hard of hearing community there.
Brooklyn has struggled with school since day 1. Which prevented me (her mother) from accepting full time work after losing both of our jobs during covid.
If you feel it in your heart to help us make this move for our little girl, thank you!
Xoxoxo

Our daughter has been running out of class during loud times, crying all day and can nO longer function in her main streamed class. The school is pushing hard for me to remove her for the rest of the year. She's been placed on a modified schedule reducing my daily work hours from almost 7 hours to 3 hours. I work at her school.
We started a go fund me as my income is needed to prevent us losing our apartment and this move which will happen next month.
Tha money from this go fund me will help us with our 5 day drive to Rochester starting June 28th and for housing in an extended stay the first 2 months while I enroll Brooklyn in school. We are actively looking for full time jobs and hope to interview remotely from California.
