Help Bristol's First Totally Free Community Garden
Donation protected
Hello, I am a local community organizer and resident of Bristol, CT. Over the last several years, I have noticed that healthy food access is a constant struggle for many families in town. Unfortunately, there are not many little pantries stocked with fresh fruits, herbs, and veggies free for the taking and always available.
The best way to start is by creating a truly free community garden! In partnership with the Bristol Child Development Center on West Street, we will have 6 garden beds available to us starting at the end of this month! Once the growing season is over and everything is harvested, we can disperse the produce to homeless shelters existing pantries, and directly to families and people in need. We are creating a sign up system and a calendar, so people know what’s always going on at the community garden and how they can help!
We are accepting all kinds of donations, from supplies to seedlings, and asking for monetary donations to cover what people don’t donate! These funds will also help us become an official charity organization so we can get grants and expand across the city; we hope to have BOC gardens everywhere and programs to teach the community a new skill! If you can’t contribute please share this story far and wide so we can reach everyone, we will really need support with getting the garden started!
