Today is Brendaly Crisanto, 34 years old, has bravely fought Chronic Myeloid Leukemia for 15 years, remaining stable with constant treatment. However, her life changed drastically this month.
She was admitted to the hospital due to a twisted cyst on her right ovary, a condition that required urgent surgery. What seemed like a controlled procedure turned into a critical emergency. Brendaly experienced intense pain, low blood pressure, and a rigid abdomen, and once in the operating room, massive bleeding and multiple clots were discovered.
Since then, she has had to undergo six consecutive surgeries due to hemoperitoneum and active bleeding, and her abdomen has been left open for continuous monitoring. Brendaly remains in the ICU, in a coma, and suffering from multi-organ failure, receiving constant blood transfusions. Severe muscle retraction has made it impossible to close her abdominal wall, and doctors have only been able to close the skin.
She is now awaiting a specialized surgery to place an abdominal mesh that will finally allow her abdomen to be closed and give her a chance at recovery.
Her family is facing enormous and completely unexpected medical expenses: surgeries, ICU care, treatments, transfusions, and the continuous care Brendaly needs to survive.

Brendaly Crisanto, de 34 años, ha luchado valientemente contra la Leucemia Mieloide Crónica durante 15 años, manteniéndose estable con tratamiento constante. Sin embargo, su vida cambió drásticamente este mes.
Ingresó al hospital por un quiste torcido en el ovario derecho, una condición que requería cirugía urgente. Lo que parecía un procedimiento controlado se convirtió en una emergencia crítica. Brendaly presentó dolor intenso, hipotensión y un abdomen rígido, y al ingresar a quirófano se descubrió sangrado masivo y múltiples coágulos.
Desde entonces, ha tenido que someterse a seis cirugías consecutivas debido a hemoperitoneo y sangrado activo, además de quedar con el abdomen abierto para vigilancia continua. Brendaly permanece en UCI, en coma y con falla multiorgánica, recibiendo transfusiones de sangre de forma constante. La severa retracción muscular ha hecho imposible cerrar su pared abdominal, logrando cerrar únicamente la piel.
Ahora está pendiente de una cirugía especializada para la colocación de una malla abdominal que permita finalmente cerrar su abdomen y darle una oportunidad de recuperación.
Su familia enfrenta gastos médicos enormes y completamente inesperados: cirugías, UCI, tratamientos, transfusiones y los cuidados continuos que Brendaly necesita para sobrevivir.
