To our amazing Brattleboro skiing and boarding community
Undoubtedly you are aware of our small, community gem that promotes a safe and awesome skiing experience for Brattleboro and the surrounding communities. This past season in 2025/2026 we operated from December thru March, with no mechanical failures! The Brattleboro Ski Hill continues to offer lessons on Thursday nights with our Mt Snow partners, and provide after school skiing to 4 local elementary schools. Furthermore, we were proud to organize a successful Family Fun Day complete with free burgers and dogs, and closed out the season with our spectacular pond skim.
Our community Ski Hill is run entirely by hard working volunteers and our Board of Directors, and is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. As such, only a small portion of our income is derived from $5 tickets and snacks, the rest is provided by our generous donor base through our previous GFM and Annual Appeal.
Last year we made a couple major strides towards improving our aging infrastructure. Utilizing funds from our GFM, we purchased a new high efficiency Evo snow gun, and more importantly, a new-to-us groomer. We started making snow on December 4th and finished up by mid-February. Our new groomer allowed us to maintain corduroy-surface conditions and terrain park features.
Our Goals
This year, we are working on two new large projects which will ensure resilient and reliable operation in the future - replacing our lift control system and rebuilding our base station.
The lift control is the device that starts/stops the lift, provides speed control and stops the lift for emergencies. While safe to use, it is in golden years and desperately needs modernization. It has been faithfully serving us since the early 70s. We expect the new system to surpass this and provide reliable service for future generations of skiers and riders.
Our old base station was too small, energy inefficient and some would say odoriferous. The old base station has been removed, and we have begun the rebuild. The lift control will be ordered shortly and installed later this summer.
Here's how we plan to use donated funds:
- $55,000 for the new lift control system
- $20,000 for installation, including electrical upgrades to lighting
- $10,000 for the new base building materials (thank you, LeValley Building Supply)
The labor costs for rebuilding will be born by our volunteers and Board of Directors.
We invite you, our community who has supported us over the years, to assist us in funding our ski hill operations. All funds from this campaign will be used in procuring and upgrading equipment directly related to ski hill ops. We anticipate this upgrade will keep us operating our awesome ski hill past the year 2050!
Any donation is sincerely appreciated as we begin this journey, THANK YOU again!
