Hello Everyone!

My name is Brandin Chow, and I am a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 141 in Temple City, California.

I am working on earning the highest rank in Scouting - Eagle Scout.

My Eagle project will give me the opportunity to Be of Service, provide Leadership, Enhance and Beautify a public park, and give back to the Community of Monterey Park and it's Citizens.

I'm currently a Senior at Arcadia High School. But I was born and raised in Monterey Park and my two sisters and I all attended Brightwood Elementary School. My family lived in Monterey Park for over 20 years.

My Eagle Project will Repair, Refurbish, and Repaint the large Barnes Park Wooden Monument Sign located in front of the tennis courts on the McPherrin Avenue side of Barnes Park in the City of Monterey Park. Barnes Park is adjacent to City Hall, the Fire Department, and the Police Department.

The large wooden sign is approximately 8 feet high at the top and 7 feet wide. It is in need of repair and renovation. It has several wooden pieces that are broken, split, and/or missing. There are numerous small cracks and holes, and the paint is completely faded and peeling off.

The support boards on the rear of the sign, as well as the inner wooden frame pieces, need to be replaced. There is a large gap located in the top left corner where the outer frame is separating. The entire sign, along with the 8ft metal poles and brackets that hold the sign, will require sanding and repainting to have it look brand new again.

Restoring this sign has great timing because the Tennis Courts and Metal Railings where the sign is located are supposed to be repainted by the City soon. So having a brand new looking sign as well will have everything look great.

I need your help in gathering the funds to purchase and/or rent the materials necessary to complete this project. Including: lumber, paint, tools, and other supplies.
