Native American communities have strength through togetherness. We invite you to join our community members with creating a special blend of cultural activities and Equine Assisted Learning program. We want to teach cultural ceremonies and teachings that will give each person spiritual gifts. You can come visit us! We are excited to share the Seven Circles of Wellness. Beginning with the Center Circle of Spiritual, Mental, Emotional, and Physical well-being.
You can help us by purchasing lumber to help us reach our goal and if you would like we can put your initials on them to share your honorable support!
Braids2Manes is an Equine Assisted Learning Facility that helps Native American people who are suffering from mental ailments, including PTSD, intergenerational trauma, low self-esteem, and addictions.
The property requires fencing, firm ground with gravel, and lean-tos to hold the horses. We need lumber, fencing, staples, and T-posts. These structures will accompany the horses so visitors can come and interact with the horses in a safe environment.
The Braids2Manes Equine Program will benefit not only Native American people but neighboring communities that are in need of a cognitive behavioral learning program.
General statistics and findings from equine therapy studies
Treatment completion: A study on individuals with substance use disorders found that a larger percentage of participants in a horse-assisted therapy group completed their program (44%) compared to a group receiving standard care only (32%).
PTSD symptom reduction: One study found that after three weeks of therapeutic horse interaction subjects had a 66.7% likelihood of lower PTSD scores, increasing to an 87.5% likelihood after six weeks.
Emotional regulation: Research indicates equine therapy can improve emotional regulation, self-efficacy, mindfulness, and self-esteem. Some studies have shown a trend towards improvement in these areas, even when the results don't reach strict statistical significance.
Behavioral improvements: Equine therapy has been linked to a reduction in behavioral problems such as aggression, over-activity, and disruptive behavior in various populations.
Mental health impact: A separate study found that individuals in animal-assisted therapy were 94% more likely to seek mental health help compared to those in traditional counseling.
I have personally talked to a Native American man that experienced equine Assisted Learning program and he said the horses saved his life. He was suicidal and the horses calmed his anxiety and depression. He says more equine programs need to be started. That's why we need to get Braids2Manes going to help people that are desperately are looking for a productive release of emotions and a connection of love and empathy. Please help our horses by donating to their needs.
