A Christmas Miracle for Bradley: Help the Veverka Family
My name is Bob Kaine, and I am reaching out to this incredible community on behalf of my dear friend, Chris Veverka, and his family. We are rallying support for his eldest son, Bradley.
A Lifetime of Bravery
Bradley is 24 years old and has spent his entire life bravely facing the challenges of cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and strabismus. He has been on a feeding tube since he was two and has undergone countless surgeries. But today, Bradley and his family are facing their toughest battle yet.
A Christmas They’ll Never Forget
While most of us were celebrating on December 25th, Chris and his wife Julie were rushing Bradley to the emergency room. What began as a crisis turned into a nightmare: Bradley was diagnosed with severe pneumonia which eventually became double pneumonia in a very rare case of completely different bacterial infections!
He has been in the fight of his life, enduring chest tubes and heavy medications to combat the infections. Perhaps the hardest part is that Bradley doesn't understand why this is happening to him. His mother Julie and father Chris have not left his side, while his younger brother John, an incredible soul, took care of the homestead so Mom and Dad could continue providing the only comfort Bradley knows, the comfort of his parents' love!
The Long Road Back to Christmas
The journey has been a rollercoaster. At one point, the family was told to prepare for the worst. Just as he began to show signs of improvement, Bradley suffered a massive pneumothorax (collapsed lung).
Through it all, the Veverka home remains frozen in time. Chris and his wife have decided that the Christmas tree and decorations will stay up until Bradley is back home to celebrate with them. They are waiting for their son to come home so he can finally "know" Christmas this year.
Why We Need Your Help
I only learned the full extent of this ordeal this past Monday when Chris returned to work. As the sole provider for his family of four, Chris has exhausted all of his vacation and personal time to be at the hospital. While he is back at work, the weight of this crisis continue to mount.
We are asking for your generosity to help this incredibly brave family stay on their feet while they focus on bringing Bradley home. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping them navigate this trial.
Please help us bring Bradley home to his family and his Christmas tree. Thank you for your prayers and your kindness.
