EIG Family,
As you may have heard, Central Texas suffered catastrophic flooding in the wee hours of the U.S.A.’s day of independence. Hundreds of slumbering individuals getting ready to celebrate a day that is typically filled with family, friends, fireworks, and the simple joys of summer awoke to cruel, devastating and for many, fatal conditions. Tragically, more than a hundred individuals have lost their lives in floodwaters that rose nearly 30 feet in less than an hour, and more than 150 more are still missing. 27 of those lost are children and counselors from Camp Mystic, a storied summer camp with a 99 year history, one of many, along the Guadalupe River.
Unfortunately, several of us in the Houston office are close with families that have been directly impacted by these floods. Over the past week we have been supporting those that have lost precious family members or have daughters struggling to process a harrowing night and subsequent rescue. As a parent of a nine year old daughter currently at camp, this has hit very close to home, and I am grappling with how best to support many dear friends experiencing such trauma.
We are reaching out to you to consider donating to support our friends in need. No amount is too small, and we are hopeful that with broad EIG support we can make an even more meaningful contribution that will get this community back up on its feet.
Please consider a donation to Bo’s Place to directly impact Camp Mystic families. We are so thankful for your support.
Bo’s Place: In Houston, Bo’s Place is well known by anyone who has grieved the loss of a family member. They are currently supporting families that have lost their loved ones as well as surviving campers and counselors from Camp Mystic. This is an organization that does tremendous work in the community to make all those undergoing loss and grief feel supported and understood, providing valuable tools for recovery.
