Hello to our amazing family,

I am sure many of you remember Boris and many of you were part of his success story in 2000 when we treated him for 321 days and were able to beat FIP for him. He just turned five this year. Last month we have run into some issues medically for myself where on September 27 I sustained a fall in our house and I broke my right pelvis and I had surgery on September 30th. I was discharged on October 9 and then on Sunday the 12th Boris was having trouble breathing and we had to take him to the Pet ER hospital. He was admitted and had a bunch of fluid tapped from his chest and a bunch of diagnostics ran, including a lot of heart exams, which thankfully all came back clear, but unfortunately leaves a relapse of FIP as his diagnosis. He has been in the pet hospital since Monday and our current bill there is over $10,000 right now and we are approaching maximum tap out on all of the credit sources that we have. With me having to struggle to recuperate from this broken pelvis a lot of this care has fallen on my husband‘s shoulders and we are both having a very difficult time. We were able to order the GS drug for Boris and we started him on October 14 but unfortunately, it is taking quite a while to kick in and he has had to have fluid tapped from his chest five times now, which has resulted in having chest tubes put in today the 18th. We also upon advice with our original FIP team have started him on a second line medicine of Paxlovid and the hospital will be starting him on that this evening. This is a Hail Mary for him. If the paxlovid does not come through then we are going to have to make some really difficult decisions in the next week. I’m reluctantly turning to you for more help with him because financially this is really putting our family into a bind, and I am humbling requesting any amount that you could possibly donate toward his care and his bills because it would really help with all of the stress that we are both under.

i’ve uploaded a picture of the x-ray showing the metal that was implanted into my pelvis to give an idea of the type of surgery that I am trying to recuperate from. I’ve also uploaded one of the bills showing a running total at the Pet ER hospital to be over $10,000. This does not include the cost of the cardiac testing which was close to 8000 or the GS medicine which was 1200 or the cost of the paxlovid which was 1500. We’re going to have more costs coming in for him, regardless of the decisions that we might have to make in the next week for him - whether it’s more time treating him or having to let our sweet boy go.
