Hello, my name is Karen Allen, and I am the owner of a used bookstore in San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize called Bakabush Books. I’ve had Bakabush Books for over 8 years, and this year I would like to give back to my hometown and donate books to two schools. I’ve been in contact with the Principal, Mr. Ronnie Ulloa, of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic School in Bullet Tree Falls, and Principal, Mrs. Clementina Romero, of Armenia Government School in Armenia, Belize. They absolutely say they need the books, and Mr. Ulloa and I talked about having a bookshelf built to house the books.

I went to a rural school myself in Belize from infant 1 to std 6 and understand how much our country as a whole lacks funding to give these schools reading material, among other things.

This GoFundMe is to fund only the shipping expenses. I have all the books already collected. I ship with Belizean Queen Freight Services, and I’ve done business with them for the past 8 years. I inquired if they would fund a couple of boxes to donate, and they will donate 2 boxes. Yay!! They charge $35 US per box, and I would like to donate 12 boxes each (if possible).

I do not have much funds myself to make this possible, but I would love to get this done. I will be in Belize in July 2025 to do the donations myself. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope if we get some donations to this GoFundMe, I can give you all updates! If we receive none, I will still try to donate some boxes since I have already been in contact with these schools! I would love to be transparent with you all.
