Hi, I’m Bobby Sanchez (she/they), a Trans and Two-Spirit artist who performs hip hop and spoken word. I’m a 30 year old independent artist and my Indigenous roots are Wari-Quechua.
My music and artwork covers topics of indigenous identity, environmental issues, LGBTQ+ discrimination and joy, and liberation on all fronts. Some of my biggest accomplishments include: performing at the National Poetry Slam 2018, NYC Pride 2023, Oakland and Tulsa Pride Celebrations 2024, featured in articles in Rolling Stone, and National Geographic in 2024. There are over 100 million views on my song Quechua 101.
I’m asking for your support to purchase a touring vehicle!
My goal is $30,000.
I’m just about to wrap up my Kimsa Tour that started March, 2025. 18 gigs in 14 cities! A shout out to all of you. Thank you to the folks who arranged the gigs, set the sound, and paid me. To the hosts who put me up and shared time with me. And every one of you who brought your energy to a performance. I love performing and meeting folks afterward. And to all who bought a t-shirt, posted a sticker, or posted something on your social media, I am so grateful.
The venues and events of the Kimsa Tour included:
• 14th Annual Two-Spirit Pow Wow, San Francisco
(Headliner - Indigiqueer Drag Show at Mission Cultural Center Theatre)
• 13th Annual Gathering of MCs, Alburquerque (Headliner)
• Fierté Montréal (Montreal Pride, Headliner)
• 1st Indigeneity and the Arts Conference (Headliner, hosted by University of Chicago at the Center for Identity and Inclusion)
• Delancey NYC (Featured Performer for SRI’s Artist Showcase)
The tour was an amazing experience to feel the support of the LBGTQ, Two-Spirit, and Indigenous communities, and for me to contribute to those communities. I learned about the connections we share and the networks we are building. I want to learn more, collaborate more, and contribute more.
For my next tour, instead of flying so many places, I would love to have a touring vehicle. Here are the cities I’ve visited in the last 4 months: shout out to New Haven, Toronto, Bethesda, Albuquerque, San Diego, Chicago, Los Angeles, Oakland, Manhattan, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Sacramento, Chicago, Eugene, and Montreal! Some more than one trip.
If the list seems random, it’s because as the gigs came in and the calendar filled, I found myself crisscrossing the country, taking very early flights with late-night gigs, hopping time zones, missing many a meal, dealing with airports, accommodations, and local transportation. Again, a heartfelt thanks to folks who helped me juggle all this. Often I wanted to stay longer to learn about the communities I was engaging with. But many times I was only 48 hours in a place.
So here’s my goal for this GoFundMe page…I am looking for your support to purchase a touring van. For my next tour, I would love to organize the tour so that I can group cities together, stop at LBGTQ friendly stops, and get to know our community better. I can have a place to sleep and cook a meal. I can bring more than t-shirts to a performance, how about CDs, poetry books, and the paintings I do!
I’m hoping to open up opportunities with dancers, videographers, and photographers, because they could join me for part of the adventure. I can park in someone’s driveway, or at a friendly campground.
Many of you have asked me to come to perform in your area, or to return to perform. This touring vehicle can help make that happen! Thank you for your support in the past, and for this goal!
Yours, Bobby
