Support Blake and Teddy's Bar Mitzvah Project

Hi, we are Blake Bronstein and Teddy Schwartz, and we are both excited to be celebrating our Bar Mitzvahs in January 2025.

Basketball is very important to both of us and brings us immense joy- wether we are on the court playing or cheering on the Sixers, it's a thrilling experience.

Basketball is more than just a game; it's a way to bring people together. We have had the chance to play on different teams, forming bonds with friends and teammates, and we both love sharing the excitement of watching games with our families.

For our Mitzvah Project, we have joined forces to combine our passion for basketball with a meaningful cause.

We have learned about the challenges faced by two Kibbutzim in Israel as a result of the October 7th Hamas attack:

Kibbutz Kfar Aza, is located 3.1 miles east of Gaza. This Kibbutz was subject to attacks by Hamas on October 7 and was destroyed. Families no longer live here. They were moved to a Kibbutz closer to Tel Aviv and they will soon be moving back to Kibbutz Ruhama, which is closer to where they used to live. A new school has been built for the families of Kfar Aza and Kibbutz Ruhama. The location of this new school has a very old, rundown court that is very much in need of refurbishing.

Kibbutz Dorot is located in the Western Negev region in Israel, about 10 miles from Kibbutz Kfar Aza. Since the October 7 Hamas attack, primary schoolers in the region have been using their own Kibbutz facilities for extracurricular activities because the primary school activities in the Sha'ar HaNegev regional Council school complex have been shut down. Dorot houses a sports hall, which was built back in the 70-80s and serves as a basketball and volleyball court. The court has not been renovated since. They are seeking funds for industrial fans, water coolers, modular basketball stands, and basketballs.

We are raising funds to help transform these old, rundown basketball courts into new vibrant courts. These upgraded basketball courts will provide a much needed outlet for physical activity, social interaction and joy, and they will create a safe and welcoming space for the community. By supporting this project, we hope to share the joy and passion that basketball has given us with the children and families of Kibbuts Kfar Aza and Kibbutz Dorot.

Thank you for helping us make a difference!!
