Support Black Magic Association's Juneteenth Retreat 2025
Donation protected
Greetings family, friends, and allies,
We are hosting our 4th annual Juneteenth Retreat June 27-29, 2025 and celebrating our 5th year as a community! It is our goal to continue to offer this retreat at a low cost to attendees and that requires your support. Your donations will go first towards supplementing the operating costs of hosting this retreat which may include: Retreat activities at AYA House, food, decor, and other materials needed for the event.
Second, your donations will go towards operating costs that can support Black MAGIC Association (BMA), which is in the process of becoming a federally recognized 501c3. These costs may include 501c3 application, contracting tax and legal consultants, website and logo design, marketing materials, etc.
With your support, we hope to continue to provide sustainable and consistent support to our community.
Here is more background on Black MAGIC's history:
Black Moving Affinity Group in Community Association aka Black Magic Association is a burgeoning nonprofit that works to strengthen the lives and professional identities of Black dance/movement therapists (DMTs) and students by building a community that offers support, guidance, fellowship, and hope. We help bridge the diversity gap and increase the visibility of Black diasporic healing practices in the dance/movement therapy profession.
Black Magic was originally established under the Multicultural and Diversity Committee (MDC) of the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) in February 2020. As our community has grown so is the need to grow in the ways we support it, while holding true to some of our core experiences.
This year we continue our tradition of offering a space for rest and rejuvenation at AYA House, a Black-owned retreat space in Pennsylvania centering wellness practices of the African Diaspora. The generosity of many donors made it happen for 3 years, and we're hoping you can help us do it again.
With Black love and joy,
BMA Board of Directors
