Billy Williams, the man, the myth, the legend, was hospitalized on October 9th with end-stage liver failure. Billy was ultimately placed on the ventilator and is currently fighting for his life. He has since been extubated and the plan is for him to go to Dallas Methodist Liver Center as soon as possible. Billy’s kidneys are now failing and he is urgently awaiting a liver transplant. We are coming together as a family and community to help ease the financial burden during this difficult time. We ask for prayers and faith that Billy will get through this! We aren’t sure how long he will be hospitalized and recovering but we know God is in control. Thank you all so much!
Update 10/13/24:
Billy has been airlifted to the liver center in Dallas today. He is stable for now but his kidney function continues to worsen and the nephrology team is planning for dialysis. Keep praying!
Update 10/15/24:
Billy has been seen by a team of specialists today and they will take all the tests they have performed and go before a team of doctors who will decide if Billy gets approved for a new liver. Please keep praying because they are working! We are so close! Billy’s kidney function still isn’t great but the nephrologist is hopeful and positive about his kidneys perking back up and being able to tolerate the liver transplant. Mandy hasn’t left Billy’s side or the hospital. I am going to post Mandy’s Venmo information below to those who want to send money that way. Thank you all so much ❤️

Update 11/23/24:
Billy’s transplant status. We went to Dallas this last week to finish what we thought were Billy’s last two assessments. We were originally told we could do both appointments virtually from home. They called last Monday and said one of them had to be in person. So we went ahead and went to Dallas to do both in person both assessments went great. We were told on Monday all he had to do was finish those to get listed for transplant. We were super excited to get listed.
We got home from Dallas on Thursday. His liver transplant Dr called and wanted to see Billy in his Amarillo office the next day. We went in and were so excited about finally being listed. Dr Habib told us that Billy was still not listed. The transplant committee met and green lighted him to get listed but He said that there were more tests that had to be ran in Dallas. We were so defeated and frustrated. Billy has come so far and done everything they’ve asked. His health is continuing to worsen. We know we’re still headed in the right direction but every time we think we’re getting close it seems to get further away.
As of now we are waiting on his transplant coordinator to call and set up more Dallas appointments. My goal right now is to talk with her. Get a game plan and for someone to give us realistic expectations of what is next. It’s been super frustrating to be told we’re ready to get listed only to be told there is still more to do.
Right now he’s lost over 40 lbs. His appetite is minimal. His kidney function is less than 20%. He’s not sleeping much and over all feels awful. We’re also having to have fluid drained from him weekly.
Please continue praying for him to get listed soon. The dr said it may take a while to get these appointments set because of the thanksgiving holiday. Please pray these appointments happen sooner than later. And for our strength. We’re defeated. Frustrated. Scared. And ready to get this going. Like yesterday.
The good news is that Dr Habib said when he does get listed it should “hopefully happen quick”. Pray that that is the case.
We know God is good. We just know God has more in store for Billy’s life. Love you guys.
