Aloha,
On September 4, my husband, Bill Pierce, suffered a severe stroke and spent the next three weeks in Queen's Hospital fighting for his life. Bill passed away on September 25.
Bill was guided by a strong sense of duty from a young age. At just 17, he made a life-changing decision that shaped his future—he joined the Marine Corps. This marked the beginning of a journey defined by growth, discipline, and leadership, which became the foundation of his life. Bill proudly served eight years in the Marine Corps before transitioning to a distinguished career with the Hawaii Air National Guard, where he eventually retired.
For Bill, military service wasn’t just a career, but a calling. The lessons he learned about resilience, discipline, and commitment to a greater cause became principles he carried into every aspect of his life. One of his proudest achievements was creating the Dragon Playground at Aikahi Elementary School in Kailua, a project with deep personal meaning. The playground wasn’t just a structure, but a symbol of family, community, and connection. Bill devoted countless hours to its creation and upkeep, organizing monthly cleanups to ensure it remained a joyful and safe space for all. The playground mattered most to him—bringing people together and building something lasting.
Bill and I have been married for 35 years, and we have three sons and two granddaughters. I have taught at Aikahi Elementary for 29 years; our sons attended the school, and today, our oldest granddaughter is in the first grade there, continuing the tradition.
What the funds will be used for:
Covering bills from Bill’s hospital stay and supporting the family’s loss of income with Bill’s passing.
Now, as we face life without Bill, our family needs help. His passing has left us with many challenges, and I am reaching out to ask for your support.
Mahalo for your consideration,
Carol Pierce
