Help Ben Thomas, family lay grandchild to rest

Hello friends, colleagues and those close to Ben Thomas and his family…

It’s a busy time for everybody — but I wanted to make you aware that our great friend, colleague Ben Thomas — the longtime HS sports reporter for AL.com — and his wife Michelle, will be traveling to Birmingham this weekend to welcome their first grandchild. Though it will be an exciting, new chapter for all — it will also be the beginning of a long medical journey ahead for their brand-new granddaughter, who will quickly go into her first surgery. The lengthy, out-of-town hospital stays and unknowns that lie ahead will bring several expenses and travel costs for the Thomas family.

In the decade I’ve known Ben — and many have known him even longer — he’s never asked for a single thing. He is among the kindest, most faith-driven, selfless people I’ve ever met — and I know many people share that opinion.

The Thomas family has a strong church family in Daphne — but I am also confident in the “family” Ben has built statewide through his work with HS sports. He’s made it his passion to highlight others: local athletes, teams and programs — and I know so many would love to return the sentiment to him/his family during this time.

This gift will assist the Thomas family with travel/stays in Birmingham, meals, other family needs/expenses and medical costs — as they navigate the days and weeks ahead. Please be in prayer for Ben and Michelle, their daughter Alyssa and new granddaughter, and their sons Robby and Jayden. Thank you and God Bless!
