Hello, Friends!

Both Elijah (16) (and now Emeline! (14) are going with Ben, their uncle Sam, and their teen cousin (Gabriel) to Kapsowar, a rural village in the Rift Valley area of Kenya, 8 hours from Nairobi. Our friends Jack and Regan Strutner (theStrutners.info) are providing desperately needed medical care to some of the most vulnerable and marginalized people in a small hospital there. We had become fast friends with the Strutners before they left and have followed their journey and supported them ever since.

My brother-in-law is a pediatric ER specialist, Ben a landscape architect, and the teens are eager to see and serve this place in any way they can. The five will be bringing desperately-needed medical supplies, helping to develop protocols for the care of children and premature babies (Sam!), responding to the Strutner's request for a landscape master plan for the hospital grounds - particularly for the grieving and recovering (Ben!), encouraging families with teens living there, playing with children at the Kapchesewes Children's Home, visiting recently released patients, and - no doubt - growing our love for these people and this place as the beauty of their stories and lives is experienced firsthand. We are excited for the ways this trip will plant significant seeds and grow into additional support for the Strutners, and will be joining them June 22-July 3.
