Behan's Irish Pub is a Burlingame institution that has been both host and witness to a great many Burlingame memories. A welcome place to come together to celebrate or mourn. A longtime favorite gathering spot for community groups to meet and organize.
This upcoming June 1 will mark the 35th anniversary of the opening of Behan's Pub here on Broadway. The Mitchell Clan has served as the lone steward of Behan's. In its earliest days, it was GG's mum behind the bar holding court during the day, followed by GG taking the helm and serving guests to last call. These days, the Irish music spilling out on to Broadway is noticeably absent and sorely missed as are the friendly and welcoming faces of Nora, Bernie and Paul.
Our intention in creating this GoFundMe campaign is to simply create a vehicle for Behan's many generous friends to provide a measure of support for Nora, Bernie, Paul and the rest of the Behan's Clan to help them meet their basic needs during this challenging time. Behan's doors have been closed since March 15th, with no indication yet as to when they will be able to re-open. In this time of uncertainty and fear we are uneasy asking for support. However, Behan's has always answered the call for BCE, the numerous PTAs & Dads Clubs, BYBA, BGS & AYSO as well as many other community groups. We humbly ask any who are able to contribute whatever they feel comfortable to return the favor and help this beloved group that is the spirit and heart of Behan's to make it through to the other side.
On behalf of Behan's, we wish you all peace of mind and good health. Further, we look forward to raising a glass with you when all of this is behind us!
