Hi, my name is Becky Young, the owner of Becky’s Diner in Waverly. I am raising funds to help me be able to expand the size of the patriotic mural being painted onto my building this summer. The original plan was to have a vinyl banner similar to what is up now. After talking to a local artist who just completed a mural similar in size, we thought painting the image and making it the whole size of the building instead of just a quarter of it would be more impactful. It was suggested to me that the community might like having a hand in contributing to this project as it will be a huge addition to downtown Waverly.

The new image will include the five branches of the military (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard), the American flag, an eagle, etc., as well as a nod to the first responders (Fire, Police, EMT) who are also our heroes . We want to keep the final image a surprise so you can enjoy seeing all the new details as it is painted when passing by.

There is a separate bank account set aside for this fund only.

Many factors come into play when adding the mural, from the removal of the old banner to prepping the building, renting the appropriate equipment to reach all angles of the building, primer, paint, supplies, labor, and insurance.

Whatever funding we are not able to raise, I will take a loan to cover the remaining balance.
