Support Ballet Dreams at Mar Le Nie Studios

My name is Gwen Lavinia Reid, (professional name Lavinia Reid) and I'm a ballet teacher with 50 years of teaching and choreographic experience in classical and contemporary ballet. I taught at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet's Summer Program for 9 years, and in 1999 I founded a school and regional ballet company in nearby Chambersburg, Pa. where I collaborated on a continuing basis with Miss Charlotte Hafer, founder, in 1976, of Mar Le Nie Studios, a 501-c3 school primarily teaching Musical Theater, tap, lyrical, and jazz. After 24 years I sold my ballet school, and have recently joined the faculty of Mar Le Nie Studios, where I teach their top two Performance Plus Competition levels. Some judges at their competitions had suggested that they study more ballet, and their former schedule could provide only one ballet class per week, so I am offering a second ballet class on Saturdays for both levels, to allow these students the opportunity to improve their skills. Since parents have paid already for the year, I'm raising $960 so that I can be compensated for teaching a total of 48 classes through the 2024-25 School Year, which ends in June. It is a very modest amount, but is an important part of my personal mission of continuing to work with young dancers and serve my community. All donations can be fully tax-deductible. I believe that the success of this program will ensure that it can be self-sustaining after this initial GoFundMe, and help bring fulfillment to the dance goals and dreams of many young people in Chambersburg and the surrounding region.
