My name is Heather, and I am starting this gofundme page in honor of my brother, Chef Daniel Kedan, his fiance, Chef Marianna Gardenhire, and all of the countless volunteers that have mobilized at their restaurant, Backyard, in Forestville. Brookes Solomon, Daniel and Marianna have been instrumental in driving, cooking and coordinating, this mass effort, and as of 20 hours ago, they had served over 13.5 thousand meals to those in need.
They have fed frontline firefighters, people displaced from their homes,local shelters, volunteers, etc. The community at large has come together and donated a huge amount of food and local fare.
However, all of this has come at a huge pricetag for the local favorite, Backyard. As this is a local, family owned business, their doors have been closed for service, without thought or hesitation, while all of the bills have been mounting.
Today was the first day of open service, yet still the local chefs and volunteers rolled in at 3 am and 4 am to make breakfast burritos to be delivered to the frontlines!
Please assist me in letting the Backyard and all of the extraordinary volunteers continue their amazing work, by donating anything that you can. As Brookes stated, "this isn't a sprint, this is a marathon."
