Support baby Easton “Rush” Woods

Donation protected
This is a fundraiser for my dear friends, Chris and Brooke Woods. Most of you know their story if we are Facebook friends. They are some of the best parents I know and wonderful Christian examples as well. They welcomed baby Easton “Rush” Woods into this world on Thursday night at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children. He is absolutely beautiful, weighing in at 7 pounds and 11 ounces. Brooke has had a rough road, being off work most of this pregnancy. I have seen firsthand the sacrifices and commitment  she made to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. She has been on true bed rest for the past several weeks. Multiple trips to see her doctor and to the emergency room in Huntsville from Florence. Rush seemed ok at first, he did have multiple does of steroids over the past couple of weeks- for that we were all thankful and hopeful once he was delivered he would be just fine. A few hours after birth, Rush got very sick and needed to be intubated (breathing tube helping him breathe or breathing for him). He is on multiple drips right now and has an arterial line through his umbilicus. The doctors have concluded that he has Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (PPHN) and are very hopeful at this point that he will pull through, but it is going to be a long road. My precious friends will be in Huntsville for several weeks. Rush will be in the Nicu for several weeks and possibly come home on oxygen for a little while. This is the brief summary of what is going on, there is more that I could tell but for the sake of time we will leave it at this.

Friends, first and foremost, Brooke & family need PRAYERS. Continue to flood the gates of Heaven with prayers for Rush. Pray for his healing, 100% healing. Pray for Brooke and her recovery after delivery. Pray for Chris as he will be off work until Rush is more stable. Pray for Gavin and Tripp as their lives will be distraught for awhile. Pray for this entire family who most have not left their side. Secondly, many have asked me what they need and what you can do. Brooke is being discharged today, baby Rush will be staying of course. As a mom, I can not IMAGINE what this must feel like. Brooke and Chris will be staying in Huntsville for a while, likely weeks. So, if your heart leads you to give, this money will be used for living expenses. Lodging, gas, food, the necessities of life to pick up and move nearly 2 hours from home. If you aren’t able to give, then by all means please continue to pray.  The neonatologist told Brooke yesterday he predicts a few months from now, she will look back and say wow Rush was really sick, now he is perfect. The doctor said babies with PPHN will  recover with time and if you didn’t know their story, you’d never be able to tell anything was wrong. This news was very reassuring of course. We will post updates here as they come.

Thank you all, sorry for the extensive post. There is so much more that I could say about this family, but again if you truly know them then you already know how deserving and wonderful they are. Please continue to support and pray for them on this very long road ahead. If you would rather give a cash donation, give it to me and I will see that they get it. Thanks again!
