Hi! We are Tosha and Benjamin, two souls on a path of healing, health and harmony, devoted to the liberation and celebration of our earth family and all of our relatives. Together we bring gifts of healing song, mentorship, ceremony, earth stewardship and natural building. We are joyfully and humbly devoted and in service to life and all sentient beings.
We have been blessed and entrusted by life with a beautiful child due October 3rd. In an effort to move closer to family support we relocated to Southern Utah, away from our beloved communities in Salt Lake City and the Gunnison Valley. Upon arrival we soon realized the space we were living in needed a lot of renovation to adequately support our needs and be a safe dwelling for our growing family. Diligently, we’ve been pouring our love and hard work into the space, removing 20+ year old carpet, installing earthen floors from materials on the land, removing walls and closets to install a kitchen and pantry in the spare bedroom, repainting, adding a tile floor from leftover materials on the land, installing a new kitchen sink, countertop, and shelving all from materials abandoned here.
This has all been taking place while living in a tent (thankfully we love camping!). We are looking forward to moving back inside before Angel baby’s arrival.
With all of the unforeseen costs of the remodel and getting our space livable, we still have yet to pay for our midwife costs and other birth preparations. Any support would be received with deep gratitude and go towards basic preparation expenses as we bring baby Angel into this world and allow us a little breathing room upon Baby’s arrival to integrate, feed ourselves, and tend to our new little sprout without the additional stress of making ends meet for a short yet essential time postpartum.
We are humbly and joyfully opening ourselves to receive any support desiring to come through. This season has been abundant in the things we value most and we are growing in the faith that creatively serving, following our hearts, and sharing our gifts, doesn’t mean we need to accept living in scarcity or just getting by. We trust the cycles of life and know deeply in time we will also have opportunities to give back and pay forward.
UPDATE:
We are so grateful and humbled by all of the support we have received so far, not only in the form of donations, but helping hands, words of encouragement, gift offerings, and check-ins from our loved ones. Here are some updated photos of the nest!
Kitchen: upcycled tile floors, granite countertop (also made out of reused supplies). We hired a plumber to help us install the plumbing for the kitchen sink which conveniently is large enough to bathe a baby in . Recycled barn wood trim a kind soul donated to us to give a nice rustic finished look. To the right are pantry shelves and a refrigerator that used to be two small closets. Thanks Papa! ♥️
Living Room: earthen floors made out of soil that came straight from the yard. We found a nice inexpensive rug on Facebook marketplace to bring a little more comfort to the space. French doors open to the east and is a lovely sunrise meditation spot
Bedroom/Birthing Room: also has earthen floors. We also found this rug on marketplace and they generously just gave it to us as a gift. Thanks universe! Thanks little Angel baby!
Your donations will continue to feed us and give us precious time with baby once they’ve arrived. Keeping daddy home with us as long as possible is so important to us! Your donations will also help us pay our midwife and any other baby needs that may come up postpartum.
Here’s a baby cradle daddy is crafting. It’s an old spool cut in half he sanded and torched to give it the grainy look it has. It rocks gently and fits right in with the recycled theme of the space!
We love you Angel baby and we can’t wait to meet you any day now! ♥️
The story continues…
We welcomed our beautiful baby Angel to the world in the late afternoon of Oct 6th. Labor happened swiftly and with so much support in the seen and unseen. Baby Angel emerged still en caul or “with a veil”. Papa with mama every step of the way, guarding and supporting. We didn’t find out the gender during pregnancy and were delighted to finally meet our baby. It’s a girl! Miliya Rose Lokie, or Mily for short.
We nurtured our baby love and growing family in the new space we had created, but soon realized we needed to move into a healthier environment for our family. A challenging pill to swallow after all that we had put into our space!
Ultimately we did what we always do, we left the land and the home better than we had found it, and it was time for us to move on to a more supportive environment for our growing family.
We had been developing a relationship with the owners of Wildland Gardens- a sweet little garden getaway in the small town of Joseph, UT. We were invited to come and be caretakers to the space, and help bring the Wildland vision to the next level. So far we have been doing just that! Tending to the property, curating transformational gatherings, and feeling into the land and how it desires to be cared for. Papa put in a new sacred fire pit and we converted one of the greenhouses into a cozy gathering space for the winter months.
We were calling in great change for 2024, year of the Dragon! So far we’ve had a lot of change and a lot of purging. One vehicle totaled, our other suffering $2,000 worth of damages. Though our environment has greatly improved, we are not quite out of the woods yet financially!
(The boys took out some frustration on the car after the engine blew)
Can you imagine what would have happened had the tire come off while we were traveling at high speeds? We are feeling very grateful our family is safe.
We are taking each challenge with as much trust and gratitude as we can. We know we are blessed and taken care of, and that there’s always lessons helping us to grow in every situation.
(Giving thanks for every moment our family gets to be together ♥️, a whole journey in and of itself)
We know that we are not alone, and are leaning in to our support at this time. We appreciate you so much.
Love,
Mom and Dad
