On May 15, Axel arrived at the Emergency Room with severe abdominal pain, initially thought to be food poisoning. However, after extensive examinations, it was discovered that Axel was suffering from an intestinal obstruction. This led to significant complications, including severe intestinal inflammation, pancreatitis, and elevated liver enzymes. Axel required the placement of both a nasogastric tube to empty his intestines and a Foley catheter due to low kidney function. After several weeks of antibiotics, Axel underwent surgery on May 8, resulting in the need for a colostomy for the next six months. Another surgery is scheduled for the end of the year to reverse the colostomy. During this challenging time, Axel has lost 40 pounds and significant muscle mass, and is currently receiving physical therapy to help regain his strength.
Adding to the family's hardships, Axel and his wife are the devoted parents of a girl with special needs. Their daughter has autism, epilepsy, and hematological issues, requiring constant care, specialized diets, and the use of medical devices despite being 14 years old.
Since May 5, Axel has exhausted all his vacation and sick leave from work, leaving the family without Axel's income. His wife's income alone is insufficient to cover both the household and mounting medical expenses.
We kindly ask for your support during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping Axel and his family navigate these challenges. Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
