Everyone talks about how life can be so unpredictable. A random Sunday morning that is usually spent planning out the upcoming week’s events, suddenly changes when a foreign object is discovered in what was your familiar body. This is what happened for my Aunt Autumn on Sunday, March 23rd when she discovered a fear inducing lump in her breast. Several doctor appointments and tests later, confirmed the dreaded information that everyone hopes won’t be their truth… cancer. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma to be exact. As expected, this diagnosis came as a shock; what was unexpected was the termination of her job of 9.5 years, this same month. As a single mother of three (youngest being four years old), having cancer and being unemployed were not on her BINGO card. Being the bada$$ that we all know and love, Autumn has jumped right into the planning and preparations, with a double mastectomy scheduled for May 19th. After her surgery, a stage of breast cancer will be given, along with plan for treatment which will include Chemotherapy and Radiation. A financial hardship is present regardless of income status when navigating this issue but becomes even more problematic when your income is nonexistent. Times are tough for everyone right now but if you have the ability to help this wonderful woman I get to call family, please consider! Thank you!
