Austin Miller is brilliant, vibrant 32-year-old man who, despite his autism diagnosis, received a bachelor's degree and been admitted to graduate school. This past summer, Austin experienced a mental-health crisis, became homeless, and left California. His family did not know where he was. Then, around Thanksgiving, he was determined to be in Iowa, where he has been jailed. He could be jailed there for a long time. He will not survive. We are seeking funds to provide him with a private lawyer to ensure he is diverted from the criminal justice system to the mental health system, with the long-term goal of allowing him to return to California, and his family. Prior to this event, Austin had not so much as spit on the sidewalk. He is more than capable of being a productive and law-abiding member of his community. Please help us free Austin Miller and return him to his family, who love him.
