Support Aurora's Family: From Tragedy to Hope

Donation protected

My name is Aurora Gutierrez. Our mobile home that we have lived for 10 years in Paramount, CA was burned down Thursday October 10, and our family is now homeless and seeking temporary family shelter. Right now, me, my husband, son, daughter, 10-month old granddaughter, and family dog ,are scattered among relatives and friends who can temporarily accommodate us, while our three 10-month old house cats we rescued months ago, are forlorn, feeling abandoned, and still staying precariously on the carport of the burned house.

The loss of a home where we were together, the loss of important belongings and mementos, this tragedy struck us with misery, heartaches, sufferings, and the constant worry of not having a roof over our heads. But yes, we console ourselves, we are very grateful that everyone had escaped the fire, including our pets.

Please help us. I feel ashamed asking for help but right now asking for help is our last resort. We would use the cash donations for the following:

* Removal of the mobile home debris — approx. $4,000 dollars
* Apartment rental (+ deposits) for the first 2 months —apartment rental would be about double of what we used to pay for the mobile park space monthly rental
* Replacement of lost home appliances and equipments
* Medical expenses of my son suffering from a heart ailment

In the midst of this late tragic incident, I have a son in need of a heart transplant and is suffering from his heart condition . This has been our constant worry before this fire struck us. My other daughter died 22 months ago of the same heart disease, which is hereditary in the family. My husband has a heart transplant to survive the same disease.

I am proud to say, we are hardworking people and we live within our means. Our family income is just from my husband's full time job, and the income I get from collecting recyclables every day. My son is 17 and in high school, and my daughter is taking care of her baby daughter .

The house we worked hard for years is gone, but our dream now is to simply be together again as family, with our dog and rescued cats, because when we are together, we are stronger, we can do much more, and are happier. We are very grateful for your kindness and any help you can give. May your kindness be returned ten-fold. Thank you so much!
