Support Aunt Fran's Dementia Care Journey

My name is Tess and I live in Northern California; my brother Russ lives in Oklahoma. Our Aunt Fran, who lives in Iowa, is 91 and was recently diagnosed with severe dementia and can't return to her home as she is unable to care for herself.

Aunt Fran has no one to take care of her, no legal papers in place and no long term care insurance. At present we are in process of obtaining guardianship and Medicaid for her, but don't know when that will happen. Since these papers aren't in effect, yet, we've had to place her in a private pay care facility temporarily. Unfortunately, the guardianship and private pay costs thousands of dollars of which we don't have and therefore reaching out for some financial help.

We have until August 2, 2024 to find a permanent facility for her, but, unfortunately, memory care is few and far between in her hometown. We are on at least three waiting lists, but depending on assessment of her, they may or may not accept her because of her needs and unfiltered outbursts.

We are just trying to keep her final days comfortable for her as much as we can with limited resources. We are asking help to pay for expenses incurred and possible future expenses until Medicaid is approved and we have some place permanent for her. If you can spare a few dollars to help us with her needs, we would greatly appreciate it.
