Hi, my name is Yaasmeen. I’m raising funds for myself and my 11 year old sibling, Assata, as we rebuild our lives after years of housing instability, unsafe living conditions, and surviving cycles of abuse.

We recently moved into a safer, more stable home after enduring everything from shelters and hotels to an unlivable apartment plagued by mold, pests, and break-ins. I’ve been the sole provider and full time guardian to Assata. But I’ve now reached a point of burnout, physically and emotionally.

Since relocating, my health has rapidly declined. I’m experiencing vision loss from ocular migraines, I’ve lost over 50 lbs from food aversion, and I’m managing intense hormonal and chronic pain symptoms - all of which have made working impossible. Meanwhile, Assata has been physically assaulted twice at a new school and is struggling with ideation and deep sadness. Still, they’re trying.

We’re calling in support for:

Groceries, medical & nutritional care

Bills, transportation, and car registration

Furnishing our home, especially Assata’s room

A gender-affirming birthday celebration for Assata (June 21)

Activities to help them reconnect to joy: violin lessons, martial arts, summer programs

We’re transitioning out of crisis, moving out of survival mode, healing our nervous systems, and stepping into a life beyond fight or flight. We’re building something better, but we need help to get through this final stretch.
