Support Ash's Road to Recovery After Accident

My name is Maritza and I am raising funds to support my best friend, Ashley Brand (Ash).

On March 3rd, Ash experienced a life-altering accident while paragliding at Dudley Beach, where he was flying for the first time at this particular site. Despite his experience as a paraglider, Ash encountered unexpected turbulence as he descended, causing him to plummet approximately 40 meters onto the rocky shoreline below.

The impact resulted in severe injuries, including a head injury that left him with no memory of the following three days, despite remaining conscious (lucky he was wearing a helmet). He underwent emergency surgery to address multiple fractures and injuries sustained during the fall. Nine pins and two plates were required in his left pelvic area, along with treatments for fractures in his right pelvis, tailbone, and middle spine, necessitating 35 stitches down his left side.

Ash also suffered a drop foot complication, rendering his left foot immobile, and endured significant weight loss during his hospitalisation. After spending two and a half weeks in the hospital, Ash returned home, but his road to recovery is far from over. He struggles with mobility, relying heavily on others for daily tasks, which has limited his independence. Simple activities like cooking and cleaning impossible without assistance. Additionally, he found out that his T1 of his spine was fractured or broken.

Despite these challenges, Ash remains determined to regain his strength and mobility. He has begun the process of rehabilitation. However, the road ahead is slow and long, and Ash anticipates at least six months of intensive therapy.
