Hello!

My name is Katie, and I am raising funds on behalf of my cousin Ashley and her husband, Brian, as they begin their journey toward surrogacy after an unexpected loss, and a traumatic medical event.

In early February, Ashley and Brian experienced the heartbreaking loss of their sweet baby boy, Stetson, when Ashley was just shy of 25 weeks pregnant. Ashley suffered a sudden placental abruption in the early hours of February 5th and was rushed to the hospital by aid car. Ash was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome (a severe complication of pregnancy that can occur in women with preeclampsia) sending her into DIC (a life-threatening condition of widespread activation of the blood clotting system, causing excessive blood clots and bleeding), thus, putting her life at severe risk. Although doctors initially planned to airlift her to Seattle, she was losing too much blood and would not have survived the flight. In a desperate effort to save her life, the medical team was forced to perform an emergency hysterectomy, leaving Ashley unable to carry any future children.

Stetson was already so deeply loved, prayed for, and cherished—their very first baby. The loss has left Ashley and Brian devastated, along with all of us who love them.

Ashley has always had a heart for children, something that shines through in the way she loves and cares for others. Becoming a mother was her greatest dream, and this journey has been unimaginably painful. The sudden, heartbreaking loss has left them devastated to their very core.

After much prayer, research, and many conversations with doctors, Ashley and Brian have chosen the path of surrogacy to grow their family. Unfortunately, surrogacy is extremely costly—often upwards of $150,000+ —and is not covered by most insurance plans. Some of the costs include;
