Thank you for your support and care of Armelle! Because of our community, Armelle’s initial legal fees have been raised. While her legal team works to bring her home, we now are asking that you donate to this initial fund to support Armelle's family with household expenses, childcare, transportation, communication, wellness, reentry needs, and additional fees.
Who is Armelle?
A mother, wife, mentor, and young Louisville leader dedicated to helping other young people find their voices.
In 2013, at just eight years old, Armelle Bondonga came lawfully to the United States with her family after being inspected and admitted. She was later included as a child in her family’s asylum proceedings. She spent much of her childhood in Maine before moving to Kentucky in 2020.
Armelle graduated from Waggener High School, where she left a lasting legacy as a vibrant, selfless, and deeply loved student leader.
Armelle poured herself into Louisville. She dedicated countless hours to community service, created space for young people to be heard, and lifted up those around her. After earning her associate degree, she married Terrance Bradshaw, a U.S. citizen. Together, they built a life rooted in love and are raising their 18-month-old U.S.-citizen child.
On August 12, 2026, Armelle voluntarily appeared for a scheduled USCIS interview related to a marriage-based petition filed by her U.S.-citizen husband and her effort to obtain lawful permanent residence. What the family hoped would be an important step forward instead became a devastating moment: Armelle was taken into ICE custody and detained at the Clark County Jail in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Armelle was separated from her husband, their 18-month-old U.S.-citizen child, and the community she has called home for years.
Armelle’s absence is being felt throughout her family and community—but so is the love, strength, and determination of those working to bring her home.
