Help Bring April’s Children Home and Rebuild After Tragedy

On March 31, 2025, our beloved April passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. A devoted single mother of two, April also opened her heart and home to two additional children in need—raising all four with compassion, warmth, and unconditional love. She was never compensated—she simply cared.

April worked with us at Kensington Gardens, where her bright spirit and kind heart uplifted everyone she met. She had a remarkable attitude, and her children—who sometimes joined her at work—were always respectful, kind, and studious. They are a true reflection of her love and strength.

Since her passing, all four children are temporarily living in Seattle with April's former husband and the father of her two biological children. While the family is working closely with CPS to ensure stability and long-term care, our goal is to bring the children home to Gig Harbor—back to the friends, schools, and community they’ve always known.

But there’s a serious obstacle: April’s home has been found to have black mold and is currently uninhabitable. The house requires urgent mold abatement, replacement of drywall and cabinetry, and essential furnishings before the children can safely return.

We need your help to raise $93,000 to:
Secure temporary housing in Gig Harbor as soon as possible, minimizing disruption to the children’s school and routine
Complete mold abatement and essential home repairs
Replace lost furniture, household items, and supplies
Provide food and basic needs as their father relocates and rebuilds life in Gig Harbor
Cover legal and logistical expenses related to CPS coordination and care for all four children
We are fortunate to have volunteers offering their time and labor—but we urgently need funds for materials, housing, and immediate needs.

April gave so much of herself—to her children, her friends, and her community. Now, we have an opportunity to honor her legacy by helping her children return to the only home they’ve ever known, and to give them the safety, love, and stability they need to heal and grow.

All proceeds will go directly to the family.

Please donate if you’re able, and share this with your community. Every gift brings these children one step closer to healing—and home.

With love and gratitude,
The Friends and Family of April
