My family is facing something I never imagined. On Tuesday, 9/22/26, my mother was detained by ICE, and after trying to fight it, we were told we cannot win. My mom will be deported to Guatemala. I am 22 years old and in college, and everything has changed at once for me and my brothers.
I have three younger brothers. One is 17 and still in high school, one is 12 and in middle school, and my youngest brother is just 6 months old. The baby will go with my mom to Guatemala, and I will travel with him so I can reunite him with her. My 17-year-old and 12-year-old brothers will stay in my custody here. Our father is also not here, so I am doing my best to hold my family together during an incredibly painful time.
- I do not have a very stable job, and while I am trying to stay in college, I also need to care for my brothers and manage what comes next for our family. I am asking for help with the immediate costs that we cannot cover alone. Donations will help pay for: Lawyer fees
- Travel costs to reunite my baby brother with our mother in Guatemala
- Help with keeping the house, including property tax due soon, home insurance, and regular bills
- Rehousing my mom and brother in another country
I cannot get all the paperwork done before my mom is deported. My family is supporting me as best they can, but I cannot do this alone. Any donation or share would mean so much to us as I try to care for my brothers, reunite my mom and baby brother, help keep the house, and get our family through this crisis. Thank you for supporting us during this time.
