Honoring Annette “La Loca” Alvarado: A True Oak Cliff Legend
It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Annette Alvarado—known to so many as “La Loca” from Oak Cliff. Annette wasn’t just a mother; she was the fierce, funny, and unbreakable pillar who raised all 12 of us—and countless others she welcomed with her giant heart. She made sure no one ever felt like a stray, even when life was the hardest.
Annette’s life was never easy, yet she always showed us her strength and grit. She protected us, taught us to keep it real, and showed more heart and courage than anyone we know. She was never anyone but herself, living loud, cursing with style, loving deeply, and making her mark wherever she went. Authentic to the core, Annette never let anyone shape her into something she wasn’t—and that’s exactly why we all loved her.
We’re heartbroken to say goodbye so soon to our mom, our “La Loca”—the realest American woman, and the definition of keeping it honest. Her wild, loving, unforgettable energy will be missed by all who loved her, and even those who clashed with her; she made an impression on everyone.
Now, as we try to give Annette the send-off she deserves, we’re asking for help with funeral costs and support for our family during this unimaginable time. Our goal is to raise $11,000 to cover the expenses. We will be doing fundraisers this weekend to help reach this goal.
Annette crossed paths with so many, and if you knew her, you know she would give her last dollar for someone in need. Please contribute what you can, or simply share this message so we can celebrate the life of a woman who touched so many lives.
Rest in peace, Mom—Oak Cliff’s very own La Loca. We love you beyond words and miss you more than we can say.
Thank you for your kindness and support,
