Hi everyone! My name is Anna Wilson, and I was recently blessed with an amazing opportunity to go to Tanzania for 10 days this summer through the GIVE Volunteers program.

The GIVE Volunteers program was established in 2011, and they focus on an "Asset-Based Community Development" model, which focuses on mobilizing a community's own assets and resources as a basis for development. Their goal is to foster authentic connections between volunteers and host community members, which in turn creates global citizens who continue to spread GIVE's values and ignite sustainable change.

The program that I am taking part in is truly special. I will spend 10 days in Tanzania, connecting with rural communities, exploring ancient cultural sites, and helping restore and protect their land through reef conservation and mangrove planting projects.

This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience; not only will it allow me to explore an amazing place while helping to restore an environment that is so important to the community, but I'll also be stepping out of my comfort zone to experience a new culture, shift my perspective, and gain amazing insight into the world around us.
