Update to the family’s story 09-01-2025 8;12pm
With heavy hearts, we share that a family member of Domingo and Andres, has died by suicide. Domingo’s brother Sebastian lived in Kentucky, but the detainment of his nephew and deportation of his brother plus the constant stress of ICE weighed heavily on him. His family in Immokalee is attempting to repatriate his body back to Guatemala, where his wife, children, his brother Domingo, and other loved ones live. Once he is repatriated to Guatemala, they will need to pay for an additional 12 hours of travle to their hometown. We are working on getting connected to the Guatemalan Consulate, but we want to support the family financially so they don’t need to worry about that while grieving for their brother.

Andres Juan y Juan and Domingo Francisco Miguel are two hardworking individuals from Immokalee who have always put their families first. Both men came to the United States to provide for their loved ones, working long hours in landscaping to ensure their families had food on the table. Despite knowing the risks, they continued to work with courage and hope, determined to support those who depend on them. Recently, after returning from a day’s work both Andres and Domingo were racially profiled in a white van during a traffic stop for dark tint which led to being detained by Immigration and are now being held in detention centers.
Andres is a devoted husband and father to two loving children. Andres wife will be having upcoming surgery & will have to be home resting leaving her unable to work for sometime. Domingo of age 20 was here on a work visa, striving to build a better future for his family. Their families are now facing an incredibly difficult time, coping by keeping faith and supporting each other. The sudden detention has left them in urgent need of help, especially with the costs of legal representation and basic family needs.
Their families describe Andres and Domingo as uplifting, always willing to help others, and deeply committed to their loved ones. They are grateful for any support the community can offer during this challenging time. Every donation will go directly to legal fees and immediate needs, helping these families stay together and find hope in a difficult moment.
