Hello my dear friends, this is Tonya. By now you have all seen the devastation sustained in Jamaica due to hurricane Melissa. I am so broken hearted because Jamaica is my happy place and unfortunately, this has hit me personally! Many of you know my boyfriend Andrae and heard that he was severely affected because the hurricane was a direct hit in Westmoreland where he lives. The damage is unimaginable but thanks to our Lord and savior, his life was spared.

Please note that I am not posting this publicly. I am only sending it individually to my closest friends and network.

Andrae and his family have experienced severe damage to their homes and property and are in need of financial assistance. He was able to call me for a quick minute to let me know he is ok, but shared that they are in serious distress, no water, power, food or resources. They are out in the country therefore the humanitarian relief has not reached them as of yet. Many of you have asked how you can help him and encouraged me to set this fund up and I appreciate it. I was scheduled to go there this month but , that will most likely be delayed until things are more stable. If I can go, I most definitely will! In the interim, I will send financial assistance once their electronic services are back up.

Andrae’s background is in construction and he is a skilled laborer who also assists many of the seniors in his community on a regular basis. Those of you who know him are also aware of how generous he is. I am convinced that he will not only rebuild for himself but, he will continue to be a blessing to others. I am raising funds to assist him with purchasing materials needed to rebuild his home and replace some of the structural materials, furniture, tools, household items, emergency essentials, and personal items needed to live and get life back on track. I included the list of essentials provided on the official government site.

I can speak on his behalf, extending his sincere thanks and appreciation for any blessing you are able to provide. He will probably be embarrassed and upset that I did this but, he is so deserving of the help for the love and unselfish support he gives to everyone else. All money collected here will go DIRECTLY to benefit Andrae and his family!

He was unable to send me photos because the signal was not strong enough and we were cut off therefore, instead of sending a picture of him, I’ve attached a few photos posted by the Prime Minister on his official FB page showing some of the destruction in Westmoreland.
