Help Us Finish What We Started — NCCC Team Red 1 Still Serving
Hi, we are Team Red 1. Just last week, we were proud corps members of AmeriCorps NCCC Pacific Region Class 31A — until we got the devastating call: the program was being shut down due to sweeping federal budget cuts. With less than 24 hours’ notice, we were told to pack up, say goodbye to our teammates, and figure out what came next.
Our year of service — our mission — ended not by choice, but by circumstance. We were in the middle of real, tangible work: conservation efforts, brushing overgrown trails, cleaning up paths to make them safe and accessible for visitors, and creating entirely new trail routes to expand public access to nature. Work we weren’t doing for a paycheck, but for a purpose.
We’re Not Done Yet — And With Your Help, We Don’t Have to Be
Even after the shutdown, our team has been invited back to volunteer at the King Range National Conservation Area in Northern California — a place we were already scheduled to serve. It’s an opportunity to finish what we started: restoring and improving the trail systems so more people can safely enjoy these incredible public lands. But we need help getting there and sustaining our team.
Minimum Goal: $6,680
Flights for the team to fly back to Northern California: $3,600
Food and groceries: $2,880
Basic supplies: $200
But we’re dreaming bigger. If we raise more than our minimum goal, we can extend our time at King Range. Every additional dollar goes directly toward keeping our team in service longer — covering food, and transportation so that we can stay through the summer and continue giving back by clearing more trails, improving access points, and supporting vital conservation projects while we line up our next steps.
Your support helps us keep doing the work we believe in: stewarding public lands, supporting conservation efforts, and standing in the gap where service is still needed.
What NCCC Was — And Why It Still Matters
AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) was a 10-month, full-time, residential national service program for 18–26-year-olds. Teams of 8–12 traveled the country serving nonprofits, responding to disasters, and working on environmental and community development projects.
NCCC wasn’t just a program. It was a promise — one we made to serve this country with heart, purpose, and action. That promise doesn’t end just because the funding did.
This Is a Call to Action
We can’t rely on old systems to solve new problems. We’re still showing up. And we’re asking you to show up with us.
Your donation directly funds boots-on-the-ground conservation work — trail restoration, new trail creation, and making public lands safer and more welcoming for everyone — and helps a team of young people continue to serve our country with integrity, even when the system has let us down.
