Update 10/8
We are still grateful to be physically okay. Mentally and emotionally we are tired. Nick and I are slowly getting back into work as things are up and running again. Our living situation, unfortunately does not have much of an update. We have been living with the neighbors in their daughter's bedroom. We are incredibly grateful for them. During the weekends we try to get away to help distract the boys and enjoy family time. Hopefully at the beginning of November a unit will be available for us to move into at least to start with and then go from there. As we are having to start over, our number one priority is providing a safe/loving home for the boys. The stress in exhausting and heartbreak is there as we had just restarted in June of this year and were finally getting ahold of things and building a family home. Plan is to land a place then restart day by day. For right now, we are surviving and trying to help others, work, and repeat. All donations that have been graciously given are going to day to day expenses and savings to purchase belongings we lost. I have provided my Venmo username as well if anyone is uncomfortable donating to this site. Venmo: @Amber-Ballew
Update.
We are so thankful to everyone who has donated and shared this post so far! We did get confirmation that Amber and Nicks apartment is deemed unlivable. They are still displaced and there is no chance of them returning to this apartment anytime soon. We are grateful for Amber’s neighbors allowing them to crash with them and keep them safe and warm during this time. Amber has been able to get into the apartment to salvage some of there belongings, but mostly everything is deemed a total loss.
Hi Everyone, my name is Lexi and I am starting up this gofundme to help my best friend. Tropical Storm Helene has caused catastrophic flooding to my best friend Amber’s home.
A little bit about Amber, she is an elementary school teacher with a heart of gold. She goes above and beyond for every human she comes in contact with. She shares a home with her boyfriend and his two kids at an apartment that they just moved into over the summer and have just lost about everything. Flooding from the storm got above 4ft in the apartment, leaving debris, sewage and gasoline ruining furniture, personal items, and more. They are going to be displaced and we are unsure where they will get to stay while their apartment is being put back together.
I wanted to start this gofundme for Amber as her and Nick are going to have to replace all furniture in their home and possibly cars due to this natural disaster.
If anyone feels called to donate or could share this post to get more exposure, I would be forever grateful and so would Amber and the boys.
