Support Amani's Journey to Find Safety

Donation protected
Amani was a young woman in the prime of her life, living in Gaza City, where she worked as a teacher and loved her job deeply. She felt proud whenever she saw the impact of her creativity on her students, who gathered around her like a flame of hope amidst the difficult circumstances. Her life was relatively calm, despite all the challenges surrounding her, and she believed that her days would remain simple yet filled with inner peace.

But the war, which shows no mercy, erupted suddenly in those days, turning Amani's life upside down. Warplanes began bombing the area, the ground shook beneath her feet, and the air was filled with screams of panic and the roar of explosions. The environment she was used to, where she felt safe, had turned into a never-ending nightmare. Amani, like thousands of others, was forced to flee quickly, leaving behind everything she had built throughout her life.

Amani gathered her small family and made the decision to leave. The journey south was filled with pain, tears, and suffering. There was no safe place, as every area they passed through had been bombed. She began her journey from Jabalia, passing through Deir al-Balah, where she hoped to find temporary shelter. But the situation in Zawaida was no better—the bombing didn’t stop, and soldiers were everywhere. Amani and her family tried to stay there for a while, but life was impossible.

She decided to continue the journey to Khan Younis, where the streets were crowded with refugees and displaced people carrying the same looks of despair and fear. But even there, she couldn’t find the safety she was searching for. As the days passed and they moved closer to Rafah, her hopes began to fade. There was no shelter, no food, not even a place to rest. Amani and her family lived day by day, with each day bringing new suffering.

When she finally reached Rafah, she was met with a heartbreaking scene: torn tents, displaced families, no electricity, and no water. Amani tried to find any safe place for her family, but they ended up in a dilapidated tent on the side of the road, lacking the most basic necessities of life. Amani couldn’t believe what had happened. She had once seen herself as a strong woman, but losing everything left her feeling depressed and defeated. She no longer had the school where she taught, nor the home she had lived in for so many years, and there was no hope of returning.

Amani began to feel weak and watched as her life turned into endless suffering within days. She stood helpless in the face of this harsh reality. But as the days passed in the tent, Amani began to feel like she was losing herself. She remembered her past days, how her life had been happier in Gaza, and how she had everything she needed to live in peace. But in this new situation, she began to lose hope little by little.

Yet, Amani did not give up. Every morning, she went out to search for any opportunity to work, no matter how small. She found some odd jobs in the nearby camps, like teaching children or helping distribute humanitarian aid. With every task she completed, she felt a glimmer of hope returning to her. She knew her life would never be the same, but she couldn’t let go of the idea that there was always a chance to start over.

At night, as she sat by the tent, hugging her children, she felt something deep in her heart that still pulsed with hope. She knew life would never be the same again, but her heart beat with a faint hope that, no matter the circumstances, life was still worth living. Amani knew the war could take everything from her, but it could never take away her determination and hope for a better tomorrow. No matter how harsh the situation, no matter how cramped the tent or how difficult the conditions, Amani was convinced that new hope would be born from the womb of suffering.

We are fundraising to help Amani and her family rebuild their lives after losing everything to the war. Your support will provide them with essential needs like shelter, food, and basic necessities.
