Hi everyone,
My name is Amanda, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write, but I’m asking for help during an incredibly difficult time in my life.
I’m a single mother to a beautiful 4-year-old son who is autistic. He has always been my entire world, and I’ve dedicated my life to making sure he has the best possible chance to grow, thrive, and access the support he needs.
A few years ago, I made the huge decision to move across the country from Florida to California because Los Angeles has far more services, programs, therapists, and resources available for children with autism. I wanted to give my son every opportunity and tool possible so he could build the best future he can.
Because my son requires a lot of support and structure, I was fully dedicated to being his primary caregiver. I relied on assistance through DPSS so I could focus on his development, appointments, therapies, and daily needs.
Recently, life took an unexpected turn. Due to financial hardship and unexpected expenses, I fell behind on rent. On March 13, 2026, I received a 10-day pay-or-quit notice for $6,000.
At the same time, my son is currently in temporary placement through DCFS while we work through services and the reunification process. My greatest priority right now is making sure there is a stable home waiting for him when he returns.
My son has always been extremely attached to me. I have been his primary caregiver his entire life, and the separation has been incredibly difficult for him. He thrives on routine, familiarity, and the comfort of home. Without that stability, he has already started showing signs of regression.
At home we also have our emotional support pup, Stitch, who is currently in service training and who my son loves and misses deeply.
I am doing everything I can to stabilize my life and rebuild the safe, structured environment my son needs. Losing our home right now would make reunification much harder and would disrupt the progress we have worked so hard to build.
My mother is trying to help me as much as she can, but her support is limited. I am hoping to raise $3,000–$4,000 to help close the gap so I can pay the rent owed and stop the eviction process.
This fundraiser is not just about rent. It is about protecting the home my son knows, restoring stability, and making sure he has a place to return to.
If you are able to donate, share, or offer support in any way, it would mean more than words can express. Every bit of help brings us one step closer to keeping our home and bringing my son back to the stability he deserves.
Thank you for reading my story and for helping my family during such a critical moment.
