Help Ally and John’s Family Get the Support They Desperately Need

Hi Everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of my best friend’s family who needs our help — Ally and John, and their four beautiful children - Cal, Archie, Winston, and Ozzie.

Recently, John received a devastating diagnosis: Familial Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) — a rare, progressive, and fatal neurodegenerative disorder that affects only about 1 in 9 million people.

CJD causes rapid brain degeneration, leading to loss of memory and intellect, personality changes, loss of balance and coordination, slurred speech, and vision problems. There is, heartbreakingly, no cure. Unfortunately, he is already showing severe signs at this stage.

For a family that has always been full of love, laughter, and resilience, this diagnosis has turned their world upside down. Ally has been doing everything she can — caring for John as his condition progresses, managing the household, and supporting their four kids through this incredibly difficult time.

As John's condition worsens, Ally is caring for him full-time, working, and keeping life steady for their four boys. She's doing everything she can, but the load is enormous. One simple way we can help right now is by funding weekly cleaning support - so Ally can spend her time where it matters most: with John and their kids.

Every dollar will go directly toward this practical help, and as John's illness progresses, additional funds will also support medical expenses, childcare, meals, and other essential needs. Our ultimate goal is to help ease some of the many burdens the family will face.

Immediate and Near-Term Needs

Uncovered medical expenses: medications, home health aides, medical equipment, transportation to appointments, and hospice care.
