Support Allie and Max's Adoption Journey
Donation protected
Hi everyone! If you didn't know already, my sister Allie and her husband Max are expecting their 2nd child through adoption! While it's a super exciting time, it's also been a (more-than) stressful ride. The adoption world has far more to it than most of us know, and it requires a lot of faith, patience, and money. After experiencing 2 failed adoptions this round (and now hopefully being connected with a successful 3rd!), we were tabulating the costs they've incurred just trying to get their 2nd baby, and they have invested somewhere between $80-90 THOUSAND ($80,000-90,000) dollars. (And nothing is still guaranteed.)
As prospective adoptive parents, you have to pay an agency (approx $20,000), pay for home studies, retain 2 lawyers for each prospective adoption in the state you are working with, social workers, cover the birth mom's health, cost of living, and basically every other cost she asks for (failed birth mom #2 asked for over $20,000), plus travel to appointments or to meet parents if they wish, plus many other things I'm probably forgetting. AND NONE OF IT IS REFUNDABLE IF IT DOESN'T WORK OUT.
Allie and Max would never ask for money themselves, but it is gut-wrenching to see them go through the stress of multiple failed adoptions, while trying to keep the faith and hope that this one will work out, and put themselves into debt just at the attempt of getting their second baby.
I set a goal of $20,000 hoping it would make a dent in their incurred costs (and more would be absolutely amazing!), but seriously—every bit would help. If you can find it in your heart and budget to donate, I know they would be incredibly grateful.
